How Often do I Need to Come to the Office During Invisalign Treatment?

During your Invisalign treatment, we will schedule regular appointments with you to monitor the progress of your treatment and ensure your teeth are moving as planned. Generally, you will visit our office once every six weeks.
After each visit, we provide you with the next series of aligners. Invisalign is quite different from other orthodontic treatments because you are given a great deal of control. For your treatment to be successful, you must wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. As such, Invisalign is somewhat risky to the extent that you can adversely affect the treatment course by failing to wear your aligner often enough.
You are also responsible for caring for your aligners. The aligners should be cleaned regularly, and you should try to avoid misplacing and breaking your aligners.
Invisalign requires your compliance. Traditionally, our patients do not find compliance difficult because they are committed to achieving a beautiful, functional smile.

How Long does Treatment with Invisalign Take?

Treatment length with Invisalign is variable depending on the required tooth movement. The majority of patients wear 20 to 30 aligners per arch during the span of their Invisalign treatment, changing from one set of aligners to the next set of aligners every two weeks, so the average treatment length is about a year.
It is also not uncommon to wear Invisalign more than a year, or for as little as nine months. Before committing to Invisalign, you will be examined by our dentists. We first determine if Invisalign is right for you, and then we can create a customized Invisalign plan including the number of aligners required to complete your orthodontic treatment.
Even if your treatment length is comparable to that of metal braces, Invisalign lets you see progress at every stage.
